Eye Screening Camp for Free Cataract Surgeries Community Service

Eye Screening Camp for Free Cataract Surgeries

IOL camps are being organised by Yuvis every year. We organized an Eye Screening Camp for Free Cataract Surgeries at Andul in association with local partners Jhorehat Netaji Ambulance Division - 2004 and Uttar Hatgacha Sporting Club, where in Eye screening of 166 patients was done and 31 patients were recommended for Cataract Surgery. The Camp was conducted by M P Birla Eye Clinic, Kolkata and surgeries will take place on 1st & 2nd June, 2026 at their Hospital in Kolkata. We thank our CSR Partner Tirupati Vancom (P) Ltd. for taking care of cost of Surgeries. The Project was attended by President Vidhu and Gopal Agarwal. With this we organised 5 Eye Screening Camps for Free Cataract Surgeries during the year at 5 different locations Mankur, Bagnan, Bally, Howrah, Hindmotor and Andul, Howrah where in a total of 888 Patients were screened and 258 were recommended for surgery out of which 162 went under Cataract Surgery

Suchita - Yuvis on going Signature project of providing low- cost toilet in rural areas to underprivileged to provide hygienic sanitation as well as security. this time we commissioned and handed over 20 more toilets to the Beneficiaries in Birlapur Area taking RY 25-26 total to 48 and year to date number is 1570. Happy School -Renovation of Entire School Building

After the collaborative effort by five Rotary Clubs RC Belur, RC Calcutta Metrocity, RC Calcutta Mayfair, RC Calcutta Pointers and RC Calcutta Yuvis for the reconstruction of girl students’ washrooms and school hygiene improvements at Shree Sharada Vidyalaya, Entally, Kolkata and inaugurated by DG Dr. Ramendu Homchaudhuri on 12th December, 2025 3 Clubs – RC Belur, RC Calcutta Mayfair and RC Calcutta Yuvis again joined hands to Rebuild the Entire School Building and completed it with Renovation, New painting done, Sheds on Roof and at Ground Floor and Safety nets on the balcony of upper floors. DG also contributed Rs. 1 lac personally for the Project. The school, with 120 students, celebrated the initiative. The project is complete and It will be inaugurated again by DG on 10th June, 2026.

Muskaan - Sports for Specially abled Children

Sports for Specially abled Children event was conducted on 22nd February at Gourimata Udyan in Baghbazar Area, featuring 24 types of sports activities for 100 specially abled Children participating. Three awards were given in each group. The event was attended by Harish, Vidhu, Sarad, Sanjay Gupta and Ann Archana. Local Councillor Pooja Panja also participated in the awards distribution ceremony. It was a meaningful event that brought a sense of hope, enthusiasm, and positive direction.

A Car Rally and Treasure Hunt was held by Rotary Dist. 3291 jointly with Lions International and many Rotary Clubs under Dist. 3291 participated together to raise awareness and fight Thalassemia. Wash in School - Shree Sharada Vidyalaya

A collaborative effort by five Rotary Clubs RC Belur, RC Calcutta Metrocity, RC Calcutta Mayfair, RC Calcutta Pointers and RC Calcutta Yuvis for the reconstruction of girl students’ washrooms and school hygiene improvements, with future plans for building renovation and electrical upgrades. DG Dr. Ramendu Homchaudhuri inaugurated the project, attended by PDG Shyamashree Sen, Presidents, Secretaries, and members from all clubs. The school, with 120 students, celebrated the initiative, and DG announced ₹1 lakh for renovation. Yuvis members Vidhu, Manoj Pasari, Harish, and Meenakshi also attended.

MAA

The MAA Project was held at Simla Udyan organized by RC Calcutta North East. RCC Yuvis participated and contributed ₹5,000. Kits containing day-to-day essential items were distributed to 800 widow beneficiaries. The event was attended by DG, DGE Tapas, PDG Jhulan Basu, PDG Mukul Sinha, and PDG Prabir Chatterjee. Yuvis were one of the 36 clubs jointly supporting this project, with members Vidhu Verma and prospective Member Gopal Agarwal participating.

Zindagi - Birthday Celebration for Sept, Oct & Nov

Birthday celebration for 42 girls born in September, October, and November was held at SPCI ( Society for Protection of Children in India ), Joka, sponsored by Rtn. J.K. Goyal. Cake cutting, chocolates, and cold drinks were distributed to all 220 girls, and toys for all 220 girls were sponsored by Rtn. J.K. Goyal from his toy factory. A brief discussion on cervical cancer vaccination and other welfare initiatives was held with the Trustees of the Girls’ Home. All members enjoyed lunch with the girls. Our club successfully organized a health camp at Greenwood Sonata Housing Complex with a total of 119 registrations. The services included ECG (35), Eye Check-up (90), Audiometric (70), BMD (107), PFT (89), Blood Sugar (119), Blood Pressure (119), and Doctor Consultation (75). The camp started at 10:20 AM and concluded at 4:15 PM, with 3 members BD Agarwal, Pawan and Manoj Tekriwal and Guest Gopal Agarwal present. The camp was well-organized and attended by people of all age groups, including drivers, maids, watchmen, and others.

Spoken English and General Knowledge sessions are being conducted in Green Leaves School by Rtn. and PP Sanjat Pasari every week for the students of 3rd & 4th since last Year. it is an interactive session with learning and fun. Other members also join time to time. and Student look forward to these sessions. Special classes were conducted, during which a discussion was held on participation in the Asia Cup — including direct qualification and through qualifiers. The session concluded with two games of Kabaddi, which were enjoyed by all and added an element of fun to the day.

This is an ongoing project with the girls of CMS Home at Hindmotor, where we regularly conduct sessions and interacts with girls on various topics. One round of discussion held with 17 girls of Classes 10, 11 and 12 at CMS Hindmotor. Duration – 1.5 hours of counselling. Two main topics discussed:1.The importance of avoiding early marriage. 2. Encouraging girls to earn a small monthly income for their own expenses through activities such as teaching locally, stitching/tailoring, or computer teaching.

We supported 3 Girls last Year. This Year The first one about Saraswati Bera from an Underprivileged background who dreamt of becoming Paramedic and change her life. She grew up in CMS Girls home. Yuvis interviewed her and decided to sponsor her professional education. A 3 Year Degree Course in OT technology @ George telegraph - Behala for 3 years course. She happens to be sister of Laxmi Bera whom we sponsored last Year.

Our Club was one of the Lead Host Clubs along with many other Rotary Clubs of R.I. Dist. 3291in organizing the Puja Parikrama for 55 Senior Citizen Women. The Program started with distribution of New Sarees and an Umbrella to all of them and then taken for Pandal Hopping in 2 Buses. It ended with Lunch at Mudiali. It was just a small effort from our side to bring smile on their faces. Local Councilor Ms. Pooja Panja also graced the occasion.

Hariyali is an ongoing signature project of RCCY. this project has two fold benefit - one is increasing plant cover and second is augmenting the income of these families with fruits in few years and also their nutrition. this was the Fourth one for 2025. A large scale tree plantation drive was conducted at Joynagar, distributing 2000 Fruit bearing Plant Saplings to 400 beneficiary families at 3 different locations. The initiative not only supports Environment but also promoted community well being since it helps those families in their Earnings in future when these plants start giving Fruits. CSR Partner - RSH Global. The 3 Locations at Joynagar were - Gudamer Haat - 200 beneficiaries, 1000 saplings, Beliadanga - 100 Beneficiaries, 500 saplings, Moujpur - 100 Beneficiaries, 500 saplings. Type of Saplings :- Mango, Chiku, Kathal, Jamrul, Nimbu. With this we have completed distribution of 7900 fruit bearing plant saplings this Rotary year starting from 01-07-2025.

Our Club organised a Movie Show for the under priviledged Kids of Green Leaves School, which is run by us. 41 Kids and their teachers enjoyed the screening of Movie "Sitare Zameen Par" Morning Show at Cinepolis Multiplex at Acropolis Mall. The Kids had lots of Fun and added incentive for them was Cold Drinks and Popcorn. A bus was arranged to pick them up from School to go to Multiplex and drop them back to School after the Show.

Our club helped in construction of a Polyclinic at the premises of an NGO Swadesh Eye Foundation last year where this NGO was running a Polyclinic for the poor vegetable vendors, small shop owners etc. The existing small Polyclinic space was not sufficient to handle the flow of patients. So our Club chipped in and helped them financially to construct a two storied Building which will house a new Doctors Chamber on the 1st floor. The inauguration took place on the 1st day of Rotary Year 2024-25, 1st July, 2024, being Doctors Day too. This year on 1st July, 2025 we donated One New ECG Machine for the OPD Centre
